Tanzania has some of the absolutely best wildlife areas in Africa - no less than 25% of this vast country's area is dedicated to the conservation of wildlife - and names like Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara bring forth images of savannah abounding with wildlife. Over the past decade, Tanzania has been in the shadow of Kenya as far as tourism is concerned. However, the situation is rapidly changing and a growing number of visitors to Africa choose Tanzania - often in conjunction with a safari in Kenya. Both the roads and lodges are steadily improving, and today the best lodges are comparable with what you find in any other African country.
Lake Manyara National Park
As visitors enter the gate they enter the lush ground water forest, whose tall trees are home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys. Further along, the forest opens up into woodlands, grasslands, swamps and beyond. (read more...)
Ngorongoro Crater
The Ngorongoro crater, situated 2,286 metres above sea level, is the largest unbroken caldera in the world. Surrounded by very steep walls this natural amphitheatre is home to up to 25,000 larger mammals, almost half of these being zebra and wildebeest. (read more...)
Serengeti
The Serengeti National Park is one of the best-known wildlife sanctuaries in the world. "Serengeti" is the Masai term for "endless savannah", and is home to more than 3 million large mammals living in total freedom. (read more...)
Tarangire
Only 120 kms from Arusha lies the Tarangire National Park that borrows its name from the river that threads its way through the length of the park. It is famous for its dense wildlife population, which is most spectacular in the dry season between June and October. (read more...)
