This area was first known for the best climate in Australia, with no real winter, no rainy season, huge beaches and a surfing paradise. The Gold Coast (south of Brisbane) is a tourist orientated destination with a number of attractions such as the Warner Bros studios, Seaworld, Dreamworld and the beautiful beaches. 

Brisbane is a quiet city where you can visit most of the cities highlights travelling by ferry on the river. 3 hours north is Fraser Island, a very unique, sandy place, with rainwater lakes, no river system and no sealed road, sandy track only.
