The Czech Republic lies in the heart of Europe, on the crossroads of commercial and migratory routes. Emperors, kings and the aristocracy, religious believers and merchants had their palaces, churches, cloisters and residencies built here.
This wealth of culture of long gone times can be admired in Prague, Kutna Hora, or Telc. Just as at one time local architecture was designed by people like Parler and Dienzenhofer, in the same way later architects from Berlin, Vienna and Paris influenced Czech Art Nouveau and modernism. There are only a few towns and areas in the world where you will encounter so many architectural styles during a short walk as you will in Prague.
Outside of Prague the attention of visitors is caught mainly by the historical centres of (smaller) towns.
