Thanks to the "Zeil" - downtown Frankfurt's superb shopping promenade - and the relaxed atmosphere of the various small downtown shopping districts, both window shoppers and serious shoppers have a comprehensive and colourful shopping range to choose from.

Shopping in downtown Frankfurt

The focal point of shopping activities in Frankfurt's city centre is provided by the Zeil promenade, the shopping centre "Zeil-Galerie", and a number of excellent department stores. Located in the middle of downtown Frankfurt, one finds the Goethestraße, where shoppers will find boutiques offering the latest in designer fashion ware. Anyone requiring a little refreshment during their shopping spree can dive into a proverbial ocean of restaurants in the "Freßgass", Frankfurt's culinary mile. The offer range of downtown Frankfurt is rounded off by numerous museums, galleries and street-side cafés which are all within a stone's throw from the main city centre shopping areas.

Shopping in the various city districts

If you prefer a more leisurely shopping atmosphere, we suggest that you head toward the Frankfurt city districts of Bornheim, Bockenheim or Sachsenhausen. The numerous boutiques, second-hand shops and cafés located in Berger Street and the Leipziger and Schweizer Streets invite one and all to a shopping spree that is accompanied by an ambiance of internationality.

Shopping centres

Frankfurt offers several large-scale shopping centres, where you can often find everything you're looking for under one roof. Shopping centres situated outside of the city centre include those in the Nordweststadt and at the airport. Downtown Frankfurt offers the architecturally modern and multi-storied Zeilgalerie with a wider range of shops.
