The four panoramic routes described here are the legendary great-experience journeys which form the climax of everyholiday visit to our country.
 |
The Glacier Express is the slowest express train in the world and links two of Europe’s most renowned Alpine resorts, Zermatt and St Moritz. The route covers some of the most stunning scenery in the country. Dine and wine in the restaurant cars while you travel. |
The William Tell Express route links German speaking Central Switzerland with sun-kissed Ticino in the south. The summer trip also combines a leisurely lake cruise with First Class rail travel.
The Bernina Express is a two-country tour combining Switzerland’s highest railway route with luxury coach travel in neighbouring Italy. From Chur, it takes you on the north-south Alpine crossing across the Graubunden canton. On the Bernina Pass, the train climbs to an altitude of 2253 metres above sea level before descending into Italy and the town of Tirano. There you change from rail to road, crossing back into Switzerland by coach.
The Golden Pass rail route operates from Lucerne to Montreux, linking Lake Lucerne with Lake Geneva, via Interlaken, Gstaad to Montreux. You will travel along six lakes, over three mountain passes – and in three different trains (because of the varying gauges of the track).
