In HOUSTON, where zoning strictures have always been suspect, gleaming glass-and-steel skyscrapers and shopping centers exist side by side with grand old homes and lush lawns. Houston defies the stereotypical view of Texas it's wet and green and one of the busiest ports in the world, as well as a center for the petrochemical, medical and aeronautics industries. Its upscale Galleria, famed art galleries and tony River Oaks enclave bespeak Houston's wealth, but the Harwin warehouse district, the Heights area and burgeoning Asian neighborhoods signal the city's diversity.
Business Attire
Although Houston has a sweltering climate for much of the year, it's also the most air-conditioned city in the world. Standard business attire is the norm, though cooler, more casual clothes are completely acceptable for many outdoor and on-site meetings.
Restaurants
More than 90 languages are spoken in Houston, and nearly that many types of food are served. Along with the steaks, barbecue and Tex-Mex food, Houston boasts four-star Continental cuisine and Creole, Vietnamese and Middle Eastern food.
