Washington
Travel & tourist Information

WASHINGTON stirs visitors with its broad avenues, imposing structures, inspiring monuments, splendid museums and sophisticated restaurants. Most of its cultural and historic attractions are in the Northeast and Northwest quadrants of the district, with other sites of interest (such as Arlington National Cemetery) in neighboring Virginia. An excellent Metro (subway) system facilitates crosstown travel. In this profile, nearby Metro stops (if they're within four or five blocks) are given following the street address.

Business Attire

Although not stuffy, Washington is a relatively formal town where men wear suits or blazers with ties and women wear stylish but conservative business attire.

Restaurants

The number of quality restaurants in this city has simply exploded in the past decade. They include many wonderful ethnic eateriestry, for instance, the Adams Morgan neighborhood along 18th Street south of Columbia Road N.W., or the host of fine Vietnamese restaurants facing the Clarendon Metro station in Arlington.
